Ericsson 5G production line to invest $ 230 million in Brazil
Eduardo Ricotta, president of Ericsson South America, said the investment will be made between 2020 and 2025, including other costs such as the cost of leasing and purchasing equipment. Ericsson will first spend 200 million reais to set up a new 5G assembly line at a plant in the industrial city of Sao Jose dos Campos near São Paulo.
Eduardo Ricotta introduced that the new assembly line is expected to start operation in the third quarter of 2020, but the specific time will be determined by the time of Brazil's 5G spectrum auction.
Because Huawei has a factory in the state of São Paulo, Brazil, and competes to obtain the leading edge of Brazil's 5G layout. And Ericsson's move may cause increased competition with Huawei and Nokia.
