Huawei's joint industry partners set up the NGSFP miniaturized optical module MSA working group
9/10/2019, at the 2019 Data Center Optoelectronic Technology and Industry Summit, Huawei and Baidu, Tencent, Guangxun Technology, Xiangmao Optoelectronics, Bochuang Technology, Yihua, Hisense Broadband, HiSilicon, Lenny, Li The upstream and downstream partners of the industry chain such as Xun Precision, Sols Optoelectronics, Wuhan Yuheng and Shanyi Electric jointly established the NGSFP Small Generation SFP Multisource Agreement (NGSFP MSA) working group to jointly promote the next generation of high density Miniaturized optical module packaging and interface industry specifications.
The next-generation high-density miniaturized optical module adopts 100GE as the mainstream rate, and the 100GE module package has undergone five generations of Transponder/CFP/CFP2/CFP4/QSFP28 evolution, but for the data center, QSFP28 needs further miniaturization. Whether it can solve the miniaturization problem of high-density modules and achieve low power consumption and high performance is a common challenge facing the industry.
Not only is 100G, the future higher-rate optical modules are also facing the problem of miniaturization, which requires industrial coordination, and mainstream manufacturers in the upstream and downstream of the industry chain work together to solve this universal problem.
The NGSFP MSA Working Group aims to build a platform for the mainstream manufacturers to innovate together, to promote the standardization of high-density miniaturized optical module packaging technology, supply resource industrialization and demand normalization. Through the NGSFP MSA working group, upstream and downstream partners in the industry chain can align their ideas and release risks, which will help the industry focus on investment, break through technical bottlenecks, eliminate uncertainty, and accelerate the industry to enter a positive virtuous cycle. Through mutual authorization of patents and sharing of intellectual property rights, NGSFP MSA working group members have the opportunity to create a win-win situation and balance multi-dimensional considerations such as quality, schedule and cost. At the same time, NGSFP will be compatible with SFP and DSFP, and maximize the industry's existing industry chain resources.
