Report said China Mobile, China Unicom, China Telecom's commercial 5G network in September

Fiber Optics Online, the latest report from market research firm counterpoint, shows that China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom will start commercial 5G networks in September this year, and the current three major operators are building and testing 5G networks in the first cities. It has been completed.

The report pointed out that the three major operators started commercial 5G networks in 2019. In the early stage, they mainly used NSA networking. In the latter stage, they were SA networking. At the end of this year, the first-tier cities selected by operators could be fully commercialized. The network is as follows:

China Mobile has already built and tested 5G networks in five cities: Hangzhou, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Suzhou and Wuhan, while Beijing, Chengdu, Shenzhen, Qingdao, Tianjin, Fuzhou, Nanjing, Guiyang and Zhengzhou are further advancing. Medium, expected to be completed by the end of 2019;

China Unicom is currently completed: Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Xiong'an, Shenzhen, Hangzhou and Nanjing, while 33 cities are further advancing and are expected to be completed by the end of 2021;

China Telecom is currently advancing in 17 cities: Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Xiong'an, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Wuhan, Chengdu, Fuzhou, Lanzhou, Qinghai, Nanjing, Haikou and Ningbo, and it is expected to be 20,201. There will be 40 cities to build 5G network and 5G network test work.

NSA networking does not fully reflect the 5G telepresence advantage.

In the 5G NSA networking mode, operators can share the core network with 4G and 5G, saving network investment, but the disadvantage is that it cannot support 5G new features such as low latency. Moreover, the mobile phone needs to connect 4G and 5G networks at the same time under the NSA network, and the power consumption is higher than that of the SA network. In order to save money, some operators will adopt the NSA mode in the initial stage of 5G network construction, but SA is the final evolution direction of 5G. At present, only Huawei can provide SA/NSA 5G dual-mode mobile phone (also the only 5G mobile phone that supports dual-card, which supports one 5G and one 4G card, and other 5G chip platforms do not support dual-card.) .

In addition, the NSA network architecture implements 5G deployment on 4G infrastructure equipment, which can greatly reduce the cost of 5G construction of operators. It does not support the new features of 5G ultra-low latency (not conducive to the technology of autopilot, AR, far super surgery, etc. Development), and the need to connect 4G and 5G networks at the same time, will cause the terminal equipment to consume a lot of power. Therefore, not long ago, China Mobile Chairman Yang Jie said that from January 1st, 2020, 5G terminals must have SA mode, which means that only mobile phones supporting NSA networking will not be accessible to the Internet next year.

Order purchase Huawei is the big head

Counterpoint also pointed out in the report that the three major operators have a clear tendency in the procurement of 5G network equipment, that is, Huawei's 5G equipment has received the largest order, and ZTE is also benefiting. Of course, the trend is not It means completely rejecting 5G devices from foreign manufacturers.

In the current 5G equipment purchase orders of the three major operators, for example, Ericsson won 12% of China Mobile's orders, while Nokia won 6% of orders, China Unicom's order for Ericsson is 20 billion. From the details announced by Huawei in the past few days, they have won 50 5G contracts worldwide and have shipped 150,000 base stations.

5G mobile phones will be listed in China

At present, 5G mobile phones on the market are basically Qualcomm Xiaolong 855 series + Xiaolong 50 5G baseband solution, while Huawei's Qilin 980+ Barong 5000 5G baseband solution, from the 5G baseband alone, Huawei is temporarily Leading (first to achieve the industry's benchmark 5G peak download rate, achieving 4.6Gbps in the sub-6GHz (low frequency band, 5G main frequency band) band, 6.5Gbps in the millimeter wave (high frequency band, 5G extended band) band, It is 10 times the experience rate of 4G LTE.).

According to the industry chain, starting from the end of August this year, Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO, vivo and other mobile phone manufacturers will collectively launch 5G mobile phones in China, and China Unicom, China Mobile and China Unicom will officially open 5G networks. Commercially, unlike the US operator's push for the millimeter-wave 5G solution developed by Qualcomm, China's current 5G frequency band is 3000-5000MHz, covering Sub 6G and millimeter wave.

For the price forecast of 5G mobile phones in the domestic market, counterpoint pointed out in the research report that the price of 5G mobile phones in the domestic market exceeded 5,000 yuan in 2019, and from the middle of 2020, the price of the corresponding mobile phones is expected to drop to 3,000 yuan. Beginning at the end of 2020, the price of 5G mobile phones in the Chinese market is expected to be less than 2,000 yuan (between 1000 and 2000 yuan). At that time, with the expansion of operators' 5G commercial cities and the cheapening of 5G mobile phones, it will directly cause User's change tide.
