Hainan Corning invested 777 million yuan to produce 32 million core preforms project is about to be completed

According to the Hainan Daily, the Corning optical fiber preform expansion project in Haikou has entered the final stage, with an accumulated investment of about 777 million yuan.
     The optical fiber preform expansion project invested by Corning (Hainan) Optical Communication Co., Ltd. will carry out technical transformation and expansion of the optical fiber preform manufacturing workshop. After completion, the whole plant will form an optical fiber preform production capacity with an annual output of 32 million core kilometers. Prefabricated rods are the raw material for the production of fiber optic networks for communication networks. Corning is a global leader in specialty glass and ceramic materials.

    As of the end of July this year, Corning's fiber preform expansion project entered the final stage. Among them, the project auxiliary public facilities have been completed, are being tested, and can be used normally; the 12 production lines originally planned to be installed have completed 8 installations. From January to July this year, the project completed a total investment of about 274 million yuan, a substantial completion of the annual investment mission. After the completion of the technical transformation and expansion project of the optical fiber preform workshop, the energy consumption will be reduced by 78%, which can eliminate 100% fluoride production and emission and reduce 99% of sewage sludge discharge.
